Rachel McKenzie is a lawyer and wanna-be police officer. She finds herself caught up in her own ideas and theories, investigating leads much to the chagrin of the local police department. When an up and coming journalist goes missing, Rachel remembers their last conversation when he told her that he might be in danger. When a man is found dead in suspicious circumstances, Rachel thinks there is a connection to the journalist’s disappearance. Rachel seems to rub everyone the wrong way as she rifles through old documents and starts asking questions.
Overall, the book was enjoyable but not exciting. It was a cozy mystery type read.
